120 YEARS AGO

Cherry Creek, July 15th. People of Cherry Creek are considerably excited over the appearance of a wild woman, partly nude, with long hair flowing down over her shoulders. She is described as partially covered by a fine wool of hair and possesses tremendous strength. G.W. Aien, agent for Robinson's Circus, took a party of men this morning and will pay $1,000 for her capture.

100 YEARS AGO

Large crowd for Bowers Mansion for, in addition to usual attractions, there is a free high-wire exhibition and a vaudeville show of the highest order. Mine host is Henry Riter.

70 YEARS AGO

Round of gaiety at the State Line Club is being enjoyed by increasing crowds. It is against the policy of the club to make public the names of famous visitors, but patrons meet many Hollywood stars. Manager George E. Brown says business exceeds all expectations.

50 YEARS AGO

Better Garden Contest, sponsored by Mark Twain Garden Club, names first prize winner Mr. and Mrs. John Nauman of West Sunset Way, a tie for Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Bucchianeri of 802 Thompson St. and Mr. and Mrs. Art Bowen of 7 Pineview Way. Honorable mention to Judge and Mrs. Milton Badt and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Pardini.

20 YEARS AGO

Memorial service for Margaret S. Jones, 67, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Snyder. She married Kenneth W. Jones in Carson City in 1943. She was active in the formation of the Carson Junior Ski Program. Survivors include husband and sons Fred, Carson City and Scott of Zephyr Cove and daughters Barbara of Los Angeles and Jeanette Morrow of Fallon.
