Obituary: Eva Lompa

A funeral Mass for Eva Lompa, 88, longtime Carson City resident, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Thursday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Lompa died July 21, 2003, at the Lompa Ranch. She was born April 17, 1915, in Beckwourth, Calif., to Antonio and Catherina Bindella Maddalena.

She married Simone "Sam" Lompa Jan. 15, 1939, and moved to Carson City.

They maintained the ranch, and for many years, she operated a storage rental business.

She contributed to the quality of life in Carson City. She donated land for the Murphy-Bernardini Juvenile Center, was instrumental in helping the development of the city's first golf course at Mills Park, donated land to the Carson City School District, and most recently made a donation to the Carson-Tahoe Hospital.

Mrs. Lompa was preceded in death by her husband in 1969 and brothers Henry, Joe, Bruno and Albert Maddalena.

Among her survivors are her daughters and sons-in-law Dorothy and Juan Arraiz and Martha and Thomas Keating; son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Duana; grandsons Mark, Dominic, Sam Jr. and Gregg; granddaughters Jennifer, Christina and Katie; great-grandsons Steven and Nicholas; sister, Stella Vanetti of Loyalton, Calif.; brother, Guido Maddalena of Sierraville, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Hospice, 3264 Goni Road, Ste. 151, Carson City, NV 89706; or to a favorite charity.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
