Groundbreaking for the Truckee River Whitewater Park will be at 10 a.m.
Thursday.
The ceremonies will be Wingfield Park at First Street and Arlington.
Cruz Excavating Inc.
of Incline Village won the contract to build the course, which will include a kayak slalom racing course.
This is the first of its kind west of the Rockies.
The course is expected to be completed by Nov.
1 and fully operational by Jan 1.
It will be funded by $1.5 million from a bond approved by state voters last year for an array of projects.
