Hallmark television movie filming in Genoa

The only commotion in downtown Genoa on Tuesday that signaled Hollywood had come to down for the week were a couple of small white box trucks and a group of production assistants busily setting up.

Hallmark Television is filming a TV movie-of-the-week at several sites in historic Genoa. The movie, "Till the River Runs Dry," will feature Ann-Margret, according to a release issued by a business owner.

The Genoa Bar will be closed Sunday and Monday for filming, said bar owner Willie Webb.

The production company, Dawpate Ltd., of Los Angeles, did not return calls for comment Tuesday, but spent the day apparently turning a real estate office into a doctor's office for the movie.

Debbie Rhodes, a sales clerk at the Dancing Deer, said she didn't know anything about the movie plans until she arrived at work next door to the crews Tuesday.

"I said, 'Oh my gosh!' All the people," Rhodes said.

Vickie Allred, owner of Beauty & the Bath in the complex, said she was surprised also.

"It's kind of exciting," she said.

Also appearing in the movie is Hunter Tylo, who was on "All My Children" and "Melrose Place."

Genoa has been the site of two major motions pictures, including the 1990 version of Stephen King's novel "Misery" and "Charlie Varrick," starring Walter Matthau.

The town's main street, with the addition of some false-facade homes, was the setting for the Colorado town near where "Misery" took place. The film's antagonist, Kathy Bates, won the Academy Award for best actress.
