Kaitie Vidovich, 18, has always liked looking through her mom's old yearbooks and, after Saturday's graduation, her own high school career will also be reduced to memories captured within the pages of the yearbook.
"You get to look back on them when you're old and gray and see what people looked like back then," she said.
Students spent the first part of Monday in an awards assembly, then watching a slide show of scenes from the previous year.
The nostalgia continued as students were given the rest of the day to wander through the annual Senator Shine car show and sign this year's "Beyond the Obvious" yearbook.
"It's got a feeling of closure," said junior James Reavis. "I grew up with a lot of these seniors. It's almost as if the years have gone by too quickly. I'm going to make the best of the last year I've got at high school."
Students scrawled the typical messages: Stay cool. It was fun getting to know you in algebra. Call me this summer.
They also wrote more meaningful ones.
"I'm telling what that person meant to me, friend to friend," said Halley Piton, 17. "I'm just letting them know how I feel and the ups and downs of the year."
As the personality and academics editor, Erica Eng, 18, watched with pride as classmates circulated the books among their friends.
"It makes me really happy," she said. "It's neat that we put together a book that people are going to look at for the rest of their lives. And I think we put together a damn good book."
