Ask Alyssa

Have you ever had one of those days when nothing seemed to go your way?

Well, I know I have, and so have many other kids around the U.S. Today, we are going to hear some stories from them.

Here are some of the many questions we have received and our best answers from "Ask Alyssa."

n Eleven-year-old Joey had a real problem. He said, "There were five seconds left in the game. I went up for the perfect shot, and I missed it. Now the whole team hates me. What should I do?"

Well, Joey, why don't you practice at home then at the next game play your best? The guys will forgive you. Besides, you are probably harder on yourself than anyone else.

n Michael, a 12-year-old boy, had problems leading to problems. He said, "I was at a dance and dancing with a girl I really liked. Then my dad walked up and tapped me on the shoulder and said it was time to go. I had to leave right in the middle of the song!

"I was so mad, I hit a cup, which was full of Coke. The Coke went all over my math teacher. Please help quick!"

Well, Michael, you should probably have a talk with your dad and set some ground rules about coming and leaving your dances. You should also apologize to the girl you were dancing with. As for the Coke on your math teacher ... good luck!

n A 14-year-old girl named Jenny had a horrible problem. She said, "I was talking to a guy that I had liked forever then my best friend walked over and said out loud, 'XYZ, Jen.'

"The guy looked at me and walked away. He hasn't talked to me since. What should I do?"

Jenny, just say "no." Who needs a guy who doesn't understand feeling embarrassed.? In the meantime, talk with your friend who embarrassed you.

All kids have embarrassing moments. No one can avoid them. Just play it cool and things will end up OK.

In the meantime, keep the questions coming.
