Sara Arline Humphries, 89, a Carson City resident for the past 10 years, died May 17, 2003, in Carson City. She was born Feb. 7, 1914, in McDonald, Pa., to William and Charlotte Johnston Jarrett.

She attended Tridelphia High School in Wheeling, W.Va, graduating in 1932.

She married Christopher Lowery in 1945. He was killed in an accident in 1949. She married Harvey Humphries in 1972. He preceded her in death in 1976.

Mrs. Humphries lived in Deland, Fla.; Wheeling and Carson City.

She worked as a bookkeeper for Valley Camp Coal Co. in Wheeling. She was a member of Eastern Star for 50 years.

She joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served in the hospital corps.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Billie Ann Lowery in 1977.

Among her survivors are her daughter Charlotte Brown of Carson City; and brother, Thomas Jarrett of Elm Grove, W.Va.

Burial will be at Corner Creek Cemetery in Hacoda, Ala.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
