Sharon Spangler, public information officer for the City of Reno, took first-place honors in the Western Access Video Excellence Award from the Alliance for Community Media.
She was honored for a "2003 Year In Review" video as well as for a public service announcement she developed for the Reno DIRECT central citizen call center launched by the city last year.
Spangler also won two 2004 Communicator Awards of Distinction for the City News online newsletter that she publishes for Reno City Employees, and for the 2003 City of Reno Calendar and Annual Report.
City Public Information Officer Steve Frady,meanwhile,won a Communicator Award of Distinction for a feature story he wrote on Reno's downtown lighting project.
"Bringing Light To Darkness," appeared in the December 2003 edition of American City & County.
