A 75-year-old Carson City man surrendered to the Sheriff's Department on a warrant for suspicion of two counts of sexual assault.
Fred Ayers allegedly molested a 7-year-old girl twice between September 2002 and October 2003, according to a criminal complaint filed by the District Attorney's Office in Carson City Justice Court. He is charged with two counts of sexual assault on a child under 14 years of age.
Ayers turned himself over to police at 2:25 p.m. Wednesday.
Ayers was being held in the Carson City Jail on $300,000 bail.
