Planners discuss master plan update

The public is invited to attend a joint meeting of the Carson City Parks and Recreation Commission and the Planning Commission at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to discuss starting a citywide comprehensive master plan update.

Consultants Clarion Associates and Winston Associates will be introduced.

Master plan work in the next several months will include updating the city's land-use plan, a new economic development plan, and bringing together other city department master plans.

The parks and recreation chapter of the master plan will include listing needs for facilities and programs, establishing priorities for the development of facilities, and funding sources.

"We want the work plan to include significant public participation opportunities throughout the process, and we want to make it easy for the public to access information," said Lee Plemel, principal planner for the development services department. A work plan is expected to be finalized in May. Planners expect to complete the master plan update within two years.

The meeting will be in the Community Center's Sierra Room, 851 E. William St.
