Mike Elicegui

Mike Elicegui, age 66, a Dayton resident since 1997, died June 16, 2004.

Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Ross, Burke and Knobel Funeral Home, 2155 Kietzke Lane, Reno, with a rosary at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 100 Bishop Manogue Drive, Reno.

Mr. Elicegui was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Martin and BienBenida Elicegui and grew up in Boone Springs and Ely. He graduated from White Pine County High School in 1955, and lived in Reno for 36 years before moving to Dayton in 1997.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Joe.

Mr. Elicegui served in the U.S. Army, and retired from the Nevada Department of Transportation with 30 years of service. During the course of his career, he worked on many significant highway projects throughout Nevada. A leader by example and mentor to many of his coworkers, he was respected by those who knew him best.

Although a surveyor by trade, he was an outdoorsman by choice. He and his wife, Mabyn, enjoyed many outdoor activities over the years including hunting, fishing, hiking and camping with friends and family. An avid sports fan, he found great satisfaction coaching his sons' Little League baseball teams and supporting his children and grandchildren in various activities.

Among his survivors are his wife of 44 years, Mabyn; sons Mark and Shawn; daughter Loni Nannini; sisters Anita Williams and Rose Juaristi; sister-in-law Mary Lou; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Interment will be immediately after Mass at Our Mother of Sorrow Cemetery.

A reception will be held at Red Hawk Country Club immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 1311 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains, N.Y., 10605.
