Jack Darrell Carter, a former Nevada resident, died June 18, 2004, in Chandler, Ariz.
Memorial services are today at Bueler Mortuary in Chandler and Saturday at Holladay Hill Funeral Home in Santaquin, Utah.
Mr. Carter was born Dec. 7, 1918, in Santaquin to Austin and Margaret May Finch Carter. He was raised in Santaquin and attended Paysons schools. He attended Utah State Agricultural College, where he joined the U.S. Army ROTC and graduated with a degree in civil engineering.
He was commissioned in the U.S. Army upon graduation and served his country during World War II.
He married Kathleen Ellen Preator on Jan. 3, 1941.
Mr. Carter worked for the Bureau of Reclamation in Utah, Nevada, Idaho and Taiwan, retiring after 36 years of service.
He enjoyed singing, playing golf and keeping in touch with family and friends. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Among his survivors are his wife; daughters Margay Carter-Davies of Chandler and Celia Nase of Carson City; son, Bruce F. Carter of West Jordan, Utah; eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
The family requests donations be made in the name of Kathleen Carter to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 1700, Chicago, Ill., 60601-7633.
