Medical office going up

A 32,000-square-foot medical office building under construction at South Meadows and Double Diamond parkways reflects the effects of Washoe Medical System's new hospital in South Meadows.

The nearby hospital as well as about 5,000 homes and apartments in Double Diamond have drawn the interest of medical groups considering leases in Creekside Family Medical Center, said Chris Martin, president of Reno South Meadows Commercial Properties and broker for the project.

The shell of the building is scheduled for completion in June, with tenants moving in later this summer.

Creekside Family Medical Center is the first building in the Creekside project, which ultimately may include as many as 10 office buildings with a total of about 450,000 square feet of space.

Martin said the complex will mix medical offices with other uses.

The Thomas Creek greenbelt borders the south boundary of the property and gives the project its name.

Metcalf Builders Inc.

of Carson City is general contractor on the project designed by Chuck Matetich of ArchideA of Reno.

Developer is Creekside Development LLC, a group of Nevada and California investors.

Martin said leases in the Creekside Family Medical Center start at $1.85 a square foot with an interior allowance of $40 a square foot.
