Irma Estel Bishop

Visitation for Irma Estel Bishop, 99, a Carson City resident for the past 24 years, will be from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Bishop died March 23, 2004, in Carson City. She was born July 3, 1904, in Greenville, Texas, to Robert N. and Bertie Viola Blakemore McKinney. At an early age, her family moved to Covina, Calif., where she attended schools.

Before moving to Carson City, she lived in several Southern California locations.

Mrs. Bishop worked for more than 30 years as a checker for Shopping Bag and Safeway grocery company. After her retirement, she managed the apartment building where she lived.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lyle in 1970.

Among her survivors are her nieces Dee Bergamini of Reno and Sally Briner of Anaheim Hills, Calif.; nephews Charles McKinney of Fernley and Kenneth Britain of Seattle; five grand nieces and one grand nephew.

No service will be held.

Mrs. Bishop will be buried next to her husband at Oakdale Memorial Park in Glendora, Calif.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
