Celebrate Election Night with Rotary, regardless of party affiliation

by Kim Riggs

Carson City Rotary's Election Night celebration Tuesday is an entertaining way to see the results. Watch the exciting outcome of the closest races in town and, of course, the presidential race. All political parties welcome.

Carson-Tahoe Hospital Foundation's fourth annual Harvesting Hope fashion show salutes cancer survivors. My son, Kyle Bacon, will be walking his grandmother, Pat Riggs, down the fashion ramp in celebration of her survival of breast cancer.

Each model is a cancer survivor. The recent loss of two outstanding men in our community, Dr. James Pitts and Eagle Valley Middle School science teacher Eric Anderson, truly brings us an awareness we need to stand united in the battle against cancer.

Give Pam Graber a call to purchase a ticket, and if you can't make the show, send a check.

Carson City's Elks Lodge 2177 and Emblem Club 507 will hold a U.S. flag- retirement ceremony Nov. 9. If you have been flying your flag proudly for our armed service personnel and it is time to get a new one, respectfully retire your flag.

Carson High School's 10th annual crafts fair will have its largest turnout of 110 crafters and, for the first time, offer a preview night.

In addition to crafters' goodies, school groups and organizations will sell refreshment and treats. Of course, Santa will be there for a photo op with the kids. This is a fun day of shopping for a great cause - our students.

Ron Wood Family Resource Center will host a Book Fair and Child Safety Seat Inspection Nov. 13. New books for children and adults will be available at low, low prices. The safety seat inspection is limited to the first 20 vehicles.
