Kelly Kite, Douglas County Commission Distict 5

I want to continue the common-sense leadership, fiscal sensibility and the fair treatment of the residents. I have worked hard to keep Douglas County a desirable place to live.

My wife, Cathie, a third-generation Nevadan, and I have lived in Douglas County for more than 20 years. We raised our family here, sent our daughters (fourth -generation Nevadans), to Douglas County schools.

How do we keep what we have and enjoy and still meet the needs and desires of our residents? How do we ensure we will continue to be able to marvel at the newborn calves and stop to watch the eagles? How do we guarantee clean air and pure water and a secure future for future generations?

We continue to work together. Our Master Plan is a working and vital document. It allows us to secure green pastures and open space while encouraging and supporting our agricultural community by allowing the purchase and transfer of development rights. We all are winners through that process. We need to continue to maintain a stable and diverse economy. Growth cannot be stopped but it can be monitored and guided.

The must have the ability to carefully balance the needs and respect the uniqueness of our different communities.
