According to a press release from the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW), Chris MacKenzie of Carson City was elected chairman of the Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners while Clint Bentley of Henderson was selected as vice chairman during a commission meeting on Friday, Aug. 5 in Ely.
McKenzie, who represents sportsmen on the nine-member commission, replaces Tommy Ford of Las Vegas as chairman.
Ford reached his 2-year term limit, but will continue to serve on the commission. Bentley also represents sportsmen's interests on the commission.
On Aug. 4, Governor Guinn announced the appointment of two new members to the commission. They are Jack Robb of Reno who represents sportsmen and Bevan Lister of Pioche who is the farming representative.
"These Nevadans have graciously agreed to give of their time in order to help our state," Guinn said. "These appointments are important, as they illustrate that concerned Nevadans are contributing their many talents for the betterment of the State of Nevada."
The nine-member wildlife commission is responsible for establishing policies, setting annual and permanent regulations, reviewing budgets and receiving input relating to wildlife and boating in the state.
