Roy Edward Smith

A funeral Mass for Roy Edmond Smith, 85, a Carson City resident for the past 25 years, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Teresa's Catholic Community.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today and 5-8 Saturday and Sunday at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith.

Mr. Smith died Aug. 23, 2005, in Carson City. He was born Feb. 7, 1920, in Huntington, W.Va., to Jack and Dorothy Shakis Haley.

He attended Sam Elec Mat and the Non-Commissioned Officer Academy.

He married Eloisa "Lisa" Smith on Sept. 4, 1988, in Carson City.

Mr. Smith was an entertainer. He was a member of the Filipino-American Association of Carson City.

He served in the U.S. Army and was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal with one oak-leaf cluster, Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea) European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Korean Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Dev., Vayu Sena Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Army of Occupation Medal (Germany), five Good Conduct Medals and a Distinguished Service Bar.

Among his survivors are his son and daughter-in-law Michael and Brenda Smith of Rolla, Mo.; daughter and son-in-law, Dinah Lee and David Goodwin of Citrus Heights, Calif.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; stepsons Jordan, Joseph and Dannie Corpuz; stepdaughter Maynette Corpuz, Jo-Anne Shoppel, and Jackie Smith and two step-granddaughters.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
