Kappes, Cassiday and Associates, a mine engineering firm based in Reno, has been hired to oversee construction of heap-leach facilities at a major mine in Chihuaha,Mexico.
Gammon Lake Resources of Darmouth, Nova Scotia, said last week that the engineering company has assembled a staff of 20 people to work on the mine known as Ocampo.
The mine is expected to produce about 170,000 ounces of gold and 6.2 million ounces of silver annually when it comes on line in 2006.
Robert Rose of Kappes, Cassiday and Associates will be the project manager at the Ocampo work, Gammon Lake Resource said.
Other key executives from the engineering firm on the project will be Brent McFarlane, a metallurgical engineer who will be construction manager, and Bruce Ferguson, a metallurgical engineer who will be the senior project engineer.
The crusher for the Ocampo mine will be moved from a site at Battle Mountain.
