Dorothy Josephine Dube

A funeral for Dorothy Josephine Dube, 89, a Carson City resident for the past 63 years, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

A rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Walton's.

Mrs. Dube died July 9, 2005, at home. She was born Sept. 14, 1915, in Deeth to Robert Truett and Josephine Martin Anderson.

She spent her early life on the Anderson Ranch on Tea Creek in northern Elko County, where she attended first through eighth grades in a one-room schoolhouse. She graduated from St. Mary's of the Wasatch Catholic Boarding High School in Salt Lake City in 1932 at age 16.

She was an avid horsewoman, working on her ranch and keeping horses later in life.

She married Paul Joseph Dube Sept. 11, 1938, at St. Thomas Aquinas Cathedral in Reno. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Dube worked at the Elko County Courthouse. After moving to Reno, she worked for the Nevada State Highway Department. She was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Parish for 63 years and volunteered as librarian at St. Teresa Catholic School.

She was a member of St. Teresa's Altar Society, The Garden Club and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was an avid golfer and longtime member of Eagle Valley Women's Golf Club. She was a member and past president of the Northern Nevada Women's Golf Association and served for many years on the State Golf Course Rating Committee.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Willard Anderson.

Among her survivors are her son, John Robert of Carson City; daughter and husband Andrae Jo "Jody" and John Laxague of Gardnerville; daughter Dianne Dorothy Cribbs of Minden; grandchildren John Paul Dube, Trinity Dawn Putnam, John Joseph Laxague, Michael Truett Laxague, Travis Wayne Widmer and Abby Jo Bryce; nine great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Burial will be at Walton's Carson Gardens.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
