Pyramid Lake, which is located approximately 30 miles north of Reno and Sparks is now closed to fishing for Lahontan cutthroat trout.
That lake has a three month closure, each year, from July 1 through Sept. 30.
On October 1, it will re-open for the 2005-2006 cutthroat trout fishing season.
You do not need a Nevada fishing license nor a Nevada Trout Stamp to fish at this lake. However, you will need a Pyramid Lake Tribal fishing permit.
Note No. 1: The recognized world record Lahontan cutthroat trout was caught at Pyramid Lake inn 1925. It weighed 41 pounds.
Note NO. 2: The largest cutthroat caught since official records were first established in 1968 is a 23-pound, 8-ounce Cutt caught on Feb. 10, 1977 by Ben Barlow.
