The Nevada Historic Preservation Office will honor 10 Nevadans and organizations for their contributions to the state's historic preservation efforts.
The event will be 1:45 p.m. May 15 at Virginia City's Fourth Ward School.
Historic Preservation Officer Ron James said the awards recognize hard work by groups and individuals for their efforts to preserve Nevada's heritage.
They are:
n Joni and Dennis Eastley for their work on the Raycraft House in Tonopah.
n Darrell and Terri Wade for fostering the Site Stewardship and other programs to manage prehistoric sites on public lands.
n Cheryl Martin, president of the Archeo-Nevada Society, for efforts to preserve archaeological sites.
n Tom Perkins of Gardnerville for photographic documentation of all 70 buildings which have benefited from Commission for Cultural Affairs funding.
n Robert Kendall of Sparks for his dedication to Nevada history and his support of the Fourth Ward School Museum.
n The U.S. Forest Service, Spring Mountains National Recreation Area for its Site Stewardship program and Passport In Time program.
n The U.S. Fish and wildlife Service for preservation work on the Jack Longstreet Cabin north of Pahrump.
n The Comstock Cemetery Foundation for work rehabilitating the cemeteries of Virginia City.
