G.W. 'Bill' Barger

A service for G. W. "Bill" Barger, 84, a Reno resident, will be at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 3835 Lakeside Drive, Reno, at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Mr. Barger died Sept. 11, 2005, at Tahoe Pacific Hospital in Reno.

He was born April 28, 1921, in Perkins, Okla., to William and Marjorie Courtright Barger.

After graduating from high school, he worked in Colorado until being drafted into the armed forces in July 1942.

He completed basic training at La Jolla, Calif., then went to Alaska for nine months and returned to Nevada for more training and organization of the 71st Division. He served in Europe and the Rhineland campaigns.

He married Mae Kalagorgevich on Jan. 8, 1945, in Phenix City, Ala.

Mr. Barger worked in the automobile business for more than 45 years in sales, sales management, dealership and owned Bill Barger Leasing in Reno and Northern Nevada.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman and sports enthusiast. He was a Mason, Shriner and a Jester.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1989; baby brother Raymond; and brother Floyd.

Among his survivors are his daughter Christine Barger and husband Vern Millard of Carson City; granddaughters Teresa Loberg of Panama and Hermosa Beach, Calif., and Kristen Loberg of Reno; sisters Loreen Dumas and Mary Crenshaw of San Antonio, Texas; sisters-in-law Polly Barger of Little Rock, Ark., and Doris Kalagorgevich of Lake Shasta, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous hunting and fishing buddies.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kerak Shrine Transportation Fund, 4935 Energy Way, Reno, NV 89502.
