Members of the American Payroll Association are working to establish a chapter in Reno.
Current members of the payroll association as well as payroll, human resource, benefits and finance professionals will meet April 4 to discuss plans for the new chapter.
Nationwide, the American Payroll Association has 115 local chapters. The group's work includes education, recognition of payroll as a professional discipline, and representation of the industry to federal agencies.
The proposed Reno chapter would offer speakers, a newsletter, a Web site and involvement in national events such as "National Payroll Week" contests.
