Architects win awards

The American Institute of Architects Nevada recognized architects through the Nevada Design Awards Program. The annual statewide program recognizes achievement of the highest standards of design excellence and quality.

Projects ranged from private residences to public buildings and businesses.

Northern Nevada winners included, in the built category:

Angela Bigotti-Chavez of Sheehan VanWoert Bigotti Architects, Reno, took the honor award for the Hayes residence in Minden.

Joel Sherman, principal architect of JLS Design, Reno, took the merit award for the Waxman residence in Reno.

Angela Bigotti-Chavez of Sheehan VanWoert Bigotti Architects, Reno, took the merit award for the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Spanish Springs.

And in the unbuilt category:

Joel Sherman, principal architect of JLS Design, Reno, took the honor award for the Sparks residence at Lake Almanor.
