Karen Barsell has been promoted to president and chief executive officer of United Way of Northern Nevada and Sierra. She succeeds Anne Cory, who moved from the community.
Barsell most recently worked as vice president of development for community impact for United Way. She joined the organization in 1990 as a social services work intern while finishing her master's degree and has held positions in community investment and development, fund raising and donor services.
