Stead retail center planned

A 350,000-square-foot retail center on 41 acres at the intersection of Stead Boulevard and Highway 395 is scheduled to break ground in summer or fall, says Todd Shaw, managing member of Lbt LLC.

Wood Rogers is handling civil design and Campbell Construction Company, owned by Shaw and his father, is the contractor. An architect has not yet been selected.

The Stead area is underserved in retail, says Shaw, but in the present economy he expects a challenge in recruiting anchor tenants. Plans call for one large anchor store in 160,000 square feet, and three sub-anchors in 60,000 to 90,000 square feet each, with the remainder going for small shops and restaurants.

The Shaws bought the bulk of the land two years ago, with plans for a residential development. After acquiring the surrounding parcels, including one that abuts the Stead Boulevard exit, plans were changed to retail.

Mark Keyzers and Kelly Bland of NAI Alliance will handle leasing.
