Jim Annis, owner of The Applied Companies Applied Staffing Solutions and Applied Business Solutions in Reno, attended the convention of the Professional Administrative Co-Employers, an association of companies involved in human resource outsourcing.

Annis launched The Applied Companies in 2002.

Ty Kirkpatrick, owner of the home inspection firm TEK Inspections LLC in Reno, has completed the national radon proficiency program developed by the National Environmental Health Association.

S. Paul Edwards

S. Paul Edwards, an associate with the law firm of Lewis and Roca LLP in Reno, has been named treasurer of the Northern Nevada Bankruptcy Bar Association. Edwards has been an associate with Lewis and Roca for six months.

J. Scott Hauger

J. Scott Hauger of the Desert Research Institute has been elected to a two-year term as executive director of The Global Collaboratory for Drylands and the City, a joint venture of six research institutions worldwide concerned with sustainable living on drylands.

Hauger is a research professor for science, technology and policy in DRI's division of hydrologic sciences.

Jennifer Boettcher

Jennifer Boettcher was promoted from server to daytime manager of Dragonfly restaurant in Truckee. Boettcher formerly worked in upscale Bay Area eateries such as Bridges in Danville and Prima in Walnut Creek. She moved to Truckee in August 2007.
