New company rolls out a margarita mix

The third generation of northern Nevada's Damon family has created a beverage business.

Josh Damon has launched Blended Sensation and begun marketing Mt. Rose Margarita Mix, a lime-based product created from a recipe long enjoyed by Damon and his wife.

Sales in the product's first two months total 10 cases, and Damon still has a day job working in the lab of Damon Industries. He's worked for the company since he was 13.

That Sparks-based company, a manufacturer and distributor of juice concentrates and beverages, was launched by Josh Damon's grandfather in 1963. Today, it's owned by Josh Damon's father, Doug.

Next on Josh Damon's agenda: develop custom blends for popular drinks like Pina colada, rum runner, strawberry daiquiri and mint margarita, called a Mojito.
