Tourism conference sets anniversary event

Joseph A. Michelli, an organizational psychologist and business consultant who is the author of "When Fish Fly," will speak during the Nevada Governor's Conference on Tourism.

The event, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, will be Dec. 8-9 at the Peppermill Resort Casino in Reno.

Also scheduled during the conference is a review of current conditions in the gaming industry by Frank J. Fahrenkopf, Jr., president and chief executive officer of the American Gaming Association.

Other presentations will include panel discussions of legislative issues facing tourism, a discussion by hotel-casino executives about the future of travel in Nevada, a review of conditions in the airline industry and a panel on how to increase tourism through destination marketing.

The conference will conclude with a tribute to Sen. Richard Bryan, Nevada governor from 1983 through 1988, who spearheaded the effort to establish the Nevada Commission on Tourism.
