Auto-salvage auction firm opens location

Insurance Auto Auctions, a company that sells vehicles judged to be a total loss by insurance companies, has opened a location at Tahoe Reno Industrial Center.

The facility at 4086 Peru Drive targets customers in northwestern Nevada and eastern Nevada, said Tom O'Brien, chief executive officer of the company headquartered at Westchester, Ill.

The Storey County location will run weekly auctions on Tuesdays. The company combines live auctions with Internet bidding.

Insurance Auto Auctions operates about 150 facilities nationwide where it auctions salvage vehicles.
