Skala team rappels to repel invasive species

A team of ropework technicians from Skala Inc. of Reno is on site in California this month to battle an invasive species: Pampas grass rooted on the cliffs above the Pacific Ocean in Golden Gate National Park north of San Francisco. It's working with Shelterbelt Builders, a land restoration company.

The Skala team devised creative anchoring solutions on the cliffs and is challenged by falling rock hazards. But the biggest challenge was something no amount of technical training could mitigate: the area is home to an abundance of poison oak.
