Katie Hildreth-Knapp of Sparks, a student at Truckee Meadows Community College, was awarded a gold medal in commercial baking among college and university students who competed in the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City last month.
Competitors were required to meet commercial production standards as they created six products demonstrating cake-decorating skills.
