Nevada Exploration Inc., a Reno-based mining company, struck a joint venture deal with Northgate Minerals Corp. of Vancouver to explore claims near Winnemucca.
The Canadian company can earn a 51 percent in the property by spending $4.1 million on exploration and $436,000 in additional payments over five years.
The Awakening Gold project is about 31 miles northwest of Winnemucca.
