North Star Expeditions LLC of Las Vegas placed the highest single bid during the quarterly oil and gas lease auction by the Bureau of Land management in Reno last week.
The company bid $10 an acre for the lease of a 1,920-acre tract in Elko County.
The BLM auctioned oil leases on 45 parcels last week, generating $372,87 in bids. The previous quarterly auction in December drew $53,411 in competitive bids on 15 parcels.
Among the most active bidders last week were Energy West Corp. of Denver, which successfully bid for leases on 24 parcels in Nevada, and Breck Energy (Nevada) LLC, also of Denver, which was the successful bidder on 10 parcels.
A total of 81,302 acres were leased in last week's auction.
