Sex offender jailed after viewing child porn at library

A registered sex offender was jailed last week for allegedly viewing child pornography on a computer at Western Nevada College.

William Kelly Jones, 64, of Carson City, is being held on suspicion of felony possession of child pornography and felony use of the Internet to control visual presentation depicting sexual conduct of person under 16 years of age.

According to the arrest report, employees at WNC's library said at 1:30 p.m. Friday they witnessed Jones looking at photographs of "nude young girls," on the public computers there.

When an employee confronted him, Jones quickly closed the windows and left the library, the report states.

A review of the browsing history under Jones' patron number revealed "numerous websites specific to young girls."

The computer was taken into evidence, the report states, and upon forensic examination, several photographs were recovered showing young girls in various sexual situations.

Jones was arrested at his Woodside Drive home at 8:48 p.m. Friday.

He is being held on $25,000 bail.
