School is IN session today in Carson City.
A call to the district office was answered by a woman who said, "Carson City School District. We have school today."
School has been canceled for Lake Tahoe and Carson Valley. Douglas County schools are closed today, according to the Douglas County School District Web site. Western Nevada College has also closed all of its campuses and learning centers today. That gives students a four-day holiday, thanks to President's Day on Monday.
Road controls everywhere
Very nearly every highway in Western Nevada, whether in the mountains or valleys, has some sort of control on it this morning. Kingsbury Grade and highways 395, 88, and 50 are all requiring chains or snow tires. Interstate 80, Highway 50 and Highway 88 over the Sierra require chains or four-wheel drive.
