We hope you stick to all your resolutions, too. Our only resolve is to avoid resolutions like the plague. It's easier that way. Then we don't have to chastise ourselves when we break one.

Congratulations to our new Governor and Mrs. Sandoval and family. They've got a tough job ahead. We do hope the Legislature is civil and works together and for the people of the state of Nevada, and not totally along party lines with no room for compromise. We the people don't want lobbyist's news bites and same old, same old. We want genuine cooperation and a work ethic that can solve our state's problems. And until we get it, per the late Ed Glick, "Keep your children and animals off the street while the Legislature is in town."

Our deepest condolences go out to the Potter and Durante families. Eileen and Bob Potter lost their beloved daughter, Kasey; and Father Chuck Durante's father passed away last week. We are deeply sorry for their losses.

One of Carolyn's favorite waitresses at Schat's Bakery, Anneke, is leaving to go to baking school in Washington. She's going to miss her, and hopes she becomes a great baker.

Wild Horse Children's Theater is having an Audition Workshop for "Honk!, Jr." on Saturday, Jan. 15 from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Children's Museum. Ages 8 and up, and $25 per student. Call 887-0438 to register and for additional information. It's a good experience for aspiring actors.

Next Sunday is the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl, pitting the University of Nevada Wolf Pack against the Boston College Eagles. Gooooooo, Pack! Let's hope it's a great ending to a great season.
