Fire crews quickly knocked down a brush fire Monday afternoon in a field on Highway 50 East, the third brush fire in two days.
The fire about 5:30 p.m. near Gold Dust West on Monday was contained to a half an acre, said Carson City Battalion Chief Bob Charles.
On Monday morning, flames ate up a tenth of an acre at Centennial Park before being contained.
And on Sunday, a fire in Brunswick Canyon claimed two acres by the time firefighters were able to get it under control.
In addition to Carson City Fire responding, the Bureau of Land Management also responded to both the Centennial and Brunswick fires.
Charles said the warm the scorching temperatures are ripe for fires.
"It's very, very dry. The cheat grass is ready to burn and will burn. So will the sagebrush," he said.
