130 YEARS AGO

Starved Mosquitoes: The mosquitoes in the vicinity of Cascade Lake have experienced an unusually hard winter and are on the verge of starvation. These gaunt and hungry creatures of the wilds hang along the highway ready to pounce upon the tourist and devour him bodily. For the past two weeks they have been worrying along on boney San Francisco schoolmarms, but expect to drink the blood of healthy sagebrush girls shortly.

100 YEARS AGO

Everyone attending the Grand last night saw the great Zamlock Company the best show ever seen in Carson. These people are not only great magicians and conjurers, but they perform magic tricks in the audience, on the stage and in any part of the house with equal ease.

70 YEARS AGO

Among the graduates in 1941 in Boys Town grade school was John McClain from Carson City. Speaker at the commencement was J. Edgar Hoover, director of the federal bureau of investigation.

50 YEARS AGO

Longtime Carson resident Lim Yee, the last survivor of Carson City's Chinese Colony died this morning. He was 80. Born in San Francisco in 1881, Mr. Yee moved to Carson City in 1898. He was the cook at the Dangberg home ranch for many years before he retired to his small residence at 421 E. Third St. in 1945. At one time the Chinese population in city was about 1,200.

20 YEARS AGO

The Carson City Rotary Foundation drops its support of the V&T trolley on Curry Street.

10 YEARS AGO

Lawmakers are forced into special session over reapportionment.
