Open Space Committee considers Eagle Creek bridge

The Carson City Open Space Advisory Committee meets Monday to discuss recommending to supervisors the submittal of a grant application to build a non-motorized bridge across Eagle Creek on the east side of town.

The bridge would be a key component of the city's system of trails because it would link the Empire Ranch Trail with the Vidler-donated parcel and Riverview Park.

The committee also will either discuss or take action on the following agenda items:

• An Eagle Scout project by Benjamin Wherry consisting of cleaning graffiti, outreach education effort and other miscellaneous tasks at the Kings Canyon Waterfall.

• Recommending to the board of supervisors approval of an agreement and possible resolution with Muscle-Powered for mutual cooperation in the construction and development of trails.

• Recommending to supervisors the tentative fiscal year 2011-12 budget for the Open Space Program.

• The development of a management plan for the Prison Hill, Silver Saddle Ranch and surrounding Carson River lands.

• A resolution thanking Michael Fischer for his years of service as a member of the Open Space Advisory Committee.

• Recommending to supervisors the acceptance of the monitoring report for the Horse Creek Ranch Conservation Easement.

The committee meets at 6 p.m. Monday in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St. For more information, call 887-2262.
