130 YEARS AGO

An unfortunate mistake: A few nights ago an old lady living on Nevada street was considerably annoyed by some irrepressible boys who rang her door bell several times and vanished. The old lady laid in wait for the boys with a bucket of dirty water for a renewed attack. She sprang at the first opportunity and sent a gallon of water in the face of a gentleman and lady, who came to make an evening call. The boys later came by for apologies, but were doused with water. Reconciliation is not at hand.

100 YEARS AGO

The mail carrier to Glenbrook is having some pretty strenuous days this winter. Since the first of the year it has been a case of cross the summit on snow shoes. The carrier reports that just below the summit there is from 12 to 20 feet.

50 YEARS AGO

Carson City's Chief Deputy City Marshal yesterday received final acceptance

from the Federal Bureau of Investigation school from J. Edgar Hoover.

10 YEARS AGO

Last year California maintained it's grip on the nation's extreme temperatures. Death Valley recorded the highest temperature on 135 days in 2000. Bodie was the coldest on 113 days.
