Snow possible early Monday

Carson City may have a brief brush with winter late this weekend as a low pressure system begins to settle in the region, according to the National Weather Service.

Winds will pick up today with temperatures in the 70s and gusts up to 35 mph. Sunday, the mercury will drop to the 60s .

"We are expecting Sunday evening rain showers before 11 p.m. and it's going to change to a mix," said Scott McGuire, a meteorologist with the NWS in Reno.

Snow levels may fall to 4,700 feet early Monday morning.

"But even if it does come down a little lower we're expecting little or no accumulation," McGuire said.

Temperatures will back in the 70s by Wednesday.
