Geothermal company begins private offering

Klamath Basin Geopower of Reno has started an effort to raise slightly more than $1 million through the private sale of equity.

In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the privately company said it has raised $105,000 from one investor so far. The company said it's raising capital only from well-heeled and experienced investors.

Directors of the company include Bill Honjas, president and chief executive officer of Optim Software and Data Solutions of Reno, Satish Pullammanappallil, vice president and chief software developer for Optim, and James Taranik, a professor in the department of geological sciences and engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Otpim's Web site describes Klamath Basin Geopower as a subsidiary of Optim.
