In his own words: Brad Bell, vice president of Bell Limo

Northern Nevada Business Weekly: Tell us about your company.

Brad Bell: Whittlesea-Bell began in the 1940s and has been around ever since as a family-owned and operated business. We specialize in transportation of the public through buses, limousines and taxicabs in Las Vegas and Reno. The Reno office has approximately 150 employees and the Las Vegas office has approximately 1,800 employees.

NNBW: What role do you play in the company?

Bell: I oversee the operations of the Reno companies and sit on the board of directors for the organization.

NNBW: How did you get into this profession?

Bell: My grandparents and great uncle started the business and I got involved at a young age and worked my way up from gas attendant to vice president.

NNBW: What are some of the skills and abilities necessary for someone to succeed in this job?

Bell: A person needs to have strong communication skills in order to develop relationships with the employees and other business members in the community.

NNBW: If you could have had any other profession, what would it have been? Why wasn't it your first choice?

Bell: Most likely, I would have become a firefighter. I chose to get involved in the family business instead.

NNBW: What are some of the important trends you see in your industry?

Bell: Public passengers are looking for a cost-effective mode of transportation. The trend we have seen is a decrease in the high end of transportation, such as chartered limousines, to the economical alternative of chartered buses.

NNBW: What do you like to do when you're not working?

Bell: I like spending time with my beautiful daughter, taking my wonderful wife out for an occasional night on the town, and snowmobiling with my buddies.

NNBW: Have any advice for someone who wants to enter your profession?

Bell: This profession requires a considerable amount of time and dedication to develop the relationships required for a successful career.

NNBW: Would you rather be younger, thinner, richer, or smarter? Why?

Bell: All of the above.

NNBW: What's the best advice anyone ever gave you?

Bell: Treat others as you would like them to treat you.

NNBW: What are five things you can't live without?

Bell: Wife, children, family, the outdoors, and of course, my iPhone.

NNBW: If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why would you want it?

Bell: I would want the ability to transport me and my family anywhere in the world so I could travel every day.
