Dorothy Bell

Oct. 7, 1923 - May 24, 2011

Dorothy Bell, 87, passed away peacefully at her home with family members at her side. Dorothy was born in Louisville, Ken., to Guy and Pearl Duvall and was the eldest of five children. Dorothy met Red Bell in Chicago in 1941 while he was in the Navy. They married and had three sons. Dorothy's family was the love of her life and always came first with anything she did. In 1958, they left their farm life in Illinois to move to California. While traveling through Nevada, they stopped in Carson City and Dorothy fell in love with the small town and decided this would be the family's new home so the three boys could experience the outdoors, camping, hunting, and fishing.

Dorothy worked at Nevada Department of Transportation Testing Division and retired in 1984. Dorothy is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, mother, father, two sisters, and a brother. Survivors include a sister Juanita Eppley of Norfork, Ark.; sons Ron (Joanie) of Vancouver, Wash., Dennis of Carson City, and Dick (Lori) of Carson City; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. No services will be held at Dorothy's request. Dorothy will be truly missed and not forgotten for all of those who knew her.
