License plate honors women veterans

Just days after the release of a license plate honoring veterans who died as a result of injuries suffered in battle, the state has unveiled a new plate to honor women veterans.

Assemblyman Elliott Anderson, D-Las Vegas, sponsored the legislation creating the plate at the request of a group of female veterans.

"This is an excellent way to pay tribute to the women who have sacrificed so much for their country but who are still often overlooked when we find ways to express our gratitude to our veterans," he said.

Although the design of the plate was released this past week, it won't be available for purchase until the spring. Money raised from the sale of the plates will go to provide services to Nevada veterans.

The plate honoring deceased veterans is available only to family members of the veterans.
