130 YEARS AGO

A hunter recently found a rusty Sharp's carbine in the badlands of Powder river, about twelve miles from the Yellowstone. The gun was at full cock, and alongside was a skeleton encased in blue overalls and a white shirt. The hypothesis is that the man was killed by Indians.

100 YEARS AGO

Yesterday the City of Yerington was visited by a fire that caused over $10,000 in damage. The fire started in Leverich and Taggert saloon and spread to the Samuels dry good store. Both were wiped out, but the fire was confined to the two buildings. It was the most destructive fire in many years.

70 YEARS AGO

Every Nevada county but one, 27 California counties,16 outside states and three foreign countries are represented in the University of Nevada student body this fall. Of the total enrollment of 1,001 - 888 are Nevada young.

50 YEARS AGO
