UNR website details Hispanic business in Northern Nevada

A newly launched website developed at the University of Nevada, Reno, provides data about Hispanic businesses in Nevada.

The site, HispanicBusinessNevada.com, is designed to fill a gap in the business information resources in the region, says one of its developers.

"There are inconsistencies when it comes to finding information about the Hispanic business community, and it's been rather difficult to find a Web site where specific and reliable information can be found," said Marcel Fernando Schaerer, program manager in the Nevada Small Business Development Center of the University's College of Business and one of the designers of the Web site.

He said the site was designed as a portal in which information about Hispanic businesses can be grouped - providing demographics and information for business resources, as well as for business activities in or outside of Nevada or Mexico.

The site also provides lists of Hispanic owned businesses for sale to marketers. The lists, to be updated annually, currently include 2,400 businesses in Reno and Sparks and about 5,000 businesses in the Las Vegas area.
