A Carson City man was helicoptered to Renown Medical Center this morning after his car ended up in a ditch along Highway 395 north of Minden.

Peter Jon Gill, 35 was southbound in an Acura at 5:49 a.m. about halfway between Johnson Lane and Airport Road when he lost control of his vehicle.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol's preliminary investigation, the vehicle veered right off the west side of the highway and through the fence, striking a drainage ditch.

Gill had to be cut from the vehicle by East Fork firefighters and was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno by Careflight with substantial injuries, according NHP Trooper Dan Lopez.
